Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020, the spread has been emotionally challenging for many people, changing day-to-day life in unprecedented ways.  All sections of society should play a role to protect themselves and each other and help prevent further spread of the disease.  At La Petite, we follow recommendations set forth by the CDC that are communicated to us through our licensing agency, Louisiana’s Department of Education.

Each year, La Petite facilitates a Trike-A-Thon benefiting the good work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The St. Jude Trike-A-Thon is a fun, service-learning program for young children that teaches trike and riding toy safety while helping the children of St. Jude. Children ages 2 and above enjoy learning specifically about riding safety in fun ways. The fundraiser ends on a day when the children that have raised funds bring in their bikes/helmets and enjoy riding their own toys at La Petite. We encourage all of our families to embrace this event and participate by helping to raise money for the children of St. Jude.

There are times when the center must close due to unforeseen circumstances.  We do our best to avoid unplanned closures, as we understand how important your childcare needs are.  Typically, an unplanned closure is weather-related.  In these cases, we follow the respective school system where the center is located (West Baton Rouge Parish Schools for our Port Allen locations and Ascension Parish Schools for our Gonzales location).  Other incidents of unplanned might be due to problems with utilities (power, water, etc.).   Closure announcements will be made as soon as possible and may be shared on our website, Facebook page, via email, text message or through other electronic communications.
